Acrylic Techniques with Lynn DeBeer

For the beginner or intermediate painter, this course will teach fundamental acrylic painting techniques that you can apply to any subject from materials to brushwork, color mixing, texture and tonal value. A great place to start if you are new or returning to the medium and its very forgiving qualities. We will also incorporate lessons on solid drawing and composition.

Instructor: Lynne DeBeer is a fine arts graduate of Skidmore College and has been teaching painting and creative exploration for over 25 years. She has been an arts administrator, a fine arts consultant and has worked with artists for over 30 years to develop and market their work.

Date: 5 Mondays, Sept. 17-Oct. 22 (no class Oct. 8)

Time: 10:30-12:30 PM

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
