Acrylic Painting with Jane Bailey

Saturdays, April 6th - April 27th | 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm | 4 weeks

$95 BAM Members | $105 Non-Members

I will start the first session with a demonstration of how I painted a specific piece. Then students will make a similar painting. We will discuss what is needed for a good painting: drawing, composition, color, value, focal points.

We will work with only 3 colors and white. I plan to show different techniques for acrylic painting using different mediums.

Instructor Biography:

I have been painting and drawing all my life. I studied at RISD, continued painting after I married and had two children. Always painted, doing commissions of portraits and homes and pets. Five years ago, I started giving private lessons at my studio and have been doing so ever since then. Recently I began teaching groups of 8 - 15 people and giving workshops locally. I love to paint and love to share the joy of doing so with others. It is very rewarding to watch others grow as they learn new techniques.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
