Wood Street residents celebrate neighborhood pride
First Wood Street Pride Day took place Sunday
Wood Street residents celebrated pride in their community Sunday during the first Wood Street Pride Day.
The celebration, hosted by Mosaico CDC, which runs the Bristol Industrial Park, and the Common Pub on Wood Street took place along the street Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. It featured flea market tables, food, games for the kids and live music from “CBGB,” “Mease,” “No Promises” and “Stone Free,” a Jimi Hendrix tribute band.
The organizers held the event to show the public the improvements — aesthetic and otherwise — that have been made to the neighborhood. The Industrial Park itself is undergoing a transformation, with new manufacturers, artists and service organizations moving in all the time.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Wood Street Improvement Grant Fund, which helps pay for neighborhood improvements to benefit businesses and residents.
