The 65-58 loss brought an end to a Tigers season that featured a valiant push just to qualify for the playoffs — the team won two of its last three games against teams that had previously beat them and claim a spot.

The Wildcats (10-10 regular season) also won home court advantage as a 16 seed against 17th seeded Dennis-Yarmouth, another 10-10 team.

But it was Dennis-Yarmouth that came out hitting shots and the Wildcats quickly found themselves down 23-10, due largely to repeated turnovers.

In the second quarter, though, Westport players regained their composure and went on a 17-6 run, bringing the score to 29-27 shortly before the end of the half.

During that spurt, Devyn Vitorino and Griffin Lecomte contributed key three-point shots.

The ensuing free-throw contest went to the Dolphins, however, and the Wildcats’ season came to a close.

Westport’s Nick Collins was the game’s top scorer with 22 points. Connor Brown and Devyn Vitorino scored nine apiece.
