Warren police logs: Several thefts reported

Monday, August 22
Someone complained about a large pile of trash on the side of Wood Street.
A caller told police that someone was riding a motorized bike on the bike path, south of Bridge Street.
A Market Street man complained just before 9 p.m. that a neighbor was using a saw.
Tuesday, August 23
A Cutler Street woman reported that her nephew had taken her money.
Police dispersed an unwanted person from a Market Street home.
Marine rescue crews got a call about a boat taking on water off Poppasquash in Bristol. The call ended up being cancelled.
Wednesday, August 24
A caller confronted a man spotted removing items from a vacant home on St. Teresa Drive. The man told the caller that he was authorized to remove the items.
Thursday, August 25
A caller dialed police at 2:28 a.m. to report a woman peering into the windows of a house on Water Street. About two hours later a similar call came in from Davis Street.
A Chestnut Street woman complained that her husband was acting strangely during a phone conversation with her.
Police searched unsuccessfully for a reported drunk driver called in on Market Street just before 4:30 p.m.
Items were reported stolen from a home on Asylum Road.
Police dispersed an unwanted person from a Water Street address.
Friday, August 26
Robert V. August, of no permanent address (noted “homeless: in dispatch log), was picked up on Metacom Avenue on an active warrant out of Barrington. Police turned him over to authorities in that town.
Police were called to Arlington Avenue to keep the piece while officials from the Department of Child and Youth Services visited.
A Harris Avenue resident complained about a motorcycle racing up and down the road. Police talked to the driver of a moped/scooter.
A call of people shouting on Metacom Avenue turned out to be a group of kids playing loudly.
Saturday, August 27
A caller reported a loud house party on Martin Street. Police looked there and on surrounding streets but found no party.
A car drove off from a Market Street service station without removing the gas pump hose from the car’s tank.
An intoxicated woman asked police for a transport to the hospital.
Someone was reported riding a dirt bike on Paul Court.
Sunday, August 28
A caller from Shore Drive complained about loud music but was unsure where it was coming from. Police checked it out and noted that it was coming from a boat out on the Kickemuit.
A DEM officer asked for the police department’s help in locating a man who ran from him. The man bolted after the DEM officer approached him off Circuit Drive; the officer said the man was wanted for illegal shellfishing.
A woman reported having an altercation with her ex-husband in a Market Street parking lot. She said he drove his truck into her car before leaving.
Monday, August 29
A Maple Street resident complained about a possible Craigslist scam involving boat repairs.
The animal control officer was able to free an opossum stuck inside a trash barrel on Ridgeway Drive.
