Warren police logs: Panhandler complaints on the rise

Tuesday, April 19
A Tyler Court resident complained that someone entered parked cars and took cash. The cars were in an unlocked garage.
Two neighbors on Highview Avenue got into it over tree removal.
The animal control officer caught up with a rooster on Federal Street.
Paul F. Sloan, 40, of Pawtucket, was arrested on a Family Court warrant and turned over to Cranston police.
A Water Street landlord reported being harassed by a tenant.
Samantha M. Stanzione, 25, of 7 Arlington Ave., Apt. 2, was arrested on a Superior Court warrant.
Police got word of a bullying issue at Kickemuit Middle School.
Police got a call about a man attempting to sell cocaine to customers at the Cumberland Farms on Market Street.
Wednesday, April 20
Police got a call about a juvenile jumping in and out of traffic on Market Street.
Police got a call about a panhandler on Market Street.
A loose cows call came in from Lon Lane at Barton Avenue. The owner showed up a few minutes after the call; meanwhile, an officer reported that the cows had damaged property.
The animal control officer freed a turkey that had become caught in a fence on Franklin Street.
Thursday, April 21
Someone broke a car’s window on Pennsylvania Avneue.
The dog officer looked for, and located, a lost puppy on Third Street.
An erratic driver was called in on Child Street.
A possible drunk driver was reported on Market Street.
Police got a call about a raccoon in a tree on Bridge Street.
Friday, April 22
An injured rabbit drew the animal officer to Ward Street.
A resident at the Riverwood apartment building on Main Street told police that she caught a man looking in her window.
Three men were reported looking into cars parked on Mason Street.
A panhandler call came in from the corner of Miller and Water streets.
An Adams Road resident called police about the obstruction of her road by construction trucks and workers at the WaterRower factory site.
Saturday, April 23
Police got a call about a man harassing business owners and shoppers on Main Street.
A possible electrical fire was reported at a Jacobs Point home. The fire department cut power and advised the homeowner to contact an electrician before turning the power back on.
Sunday, April 24
Kelly A. Boni, 30, of Milford, Ma., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense, reckless driving/drag racing/eluding police, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled her over on the Warren River bridge at 1:37 a.m.
A panhandler call came in from Main Street.
Police got a call about an injured hare on Main Street. It ran into the woods before police could attend to it.
A horse got loose on Touisset Road, a caller said, but police said the report was unfounded.
An erratic driver was reported on Main Street.
Monday, April 25
The owner of a Seymour Street property asked that police disperse a person living in the woods at the rear of the property. The person was gone when police arrived.
A possibly sick raccoon was reported on Water Street. The caller was advised to stop feeding the animal, and to call DEM.
Police got a call about kids lighting fireworks on Liberty Street.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
