Tiverton firefighters have spent the early Monday morning hours battling a two-alarm fire in a vacant mill building in the north end of town near Cook Pond and the Fall River line.
Fire Chief Robert Lloyd said the blaze was reported after 2 a.m. in an old brick structure adjacent to the Bourne Mill complex — a former mill converted to housing.
Fall River firefighters are assisting and, as of 5 a.m., no firefighters had been allowed inside. Although the worst of the flames had been knocked down by then, hot spots continued to flare up.
The vacant building has no power and had been used in the past by firefighters for training.
One firefighter was treated for an undisclosed injury.
