Time-tested talent: No electricity, no problem at Westport Artisan Fair

Time tested Westport ways to stack a proper stone wall, work wrought iron, and weave baskets clothing were on display at the Handy House Saturday.

The Handy House Artisan Fair drew some 30 talented local craftsman who showed how things were done a couple centuries or more ago when a trip to the big box store and supermarket were not options.

Even the music sounded much as it might have many generations ago with the group Sundial performing old tunes on fiddle, mandolin and more.

The event not only preserves and perpetuates knowledge about traditional crafts, but is an opportunity for the community to reconnect to its own history, to visit the Handy House and to celebrate the special heritage of the town of Westport.
