Mr. Thomas B. Andrade, age 63 of Sherry Avenue, Bristol, died peacefully Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Susan E. (Ragano) Andrade, his wife of 34 years.
Born in Fall River, MA and a lifelong resident of Bristol, he was a son of the late Mary (Andrade) Rogers. Tom was a maintenance mechanic for over 15 years for the Bristol Housing Authority, retiring in 2015. He had previously worked for DaPonte’s Landscaping of Bristol for many years. He was also the owner-operator of the former Bristol Archery and Supply from 1986-1995. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed Hunting, Shooting Trap, Fishing both Salt Water and Fresh Water, and he was a life member of the Tiverton Rod and Gun Club. Tom was also a motorcycle enthusiast, spending countless hours cruising on his Harley. But above all, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandson and siblings and their families.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Lisa Marie Andrade of Somerset, MA., Thomas B. Andrade, Jr. (Nicole Komiega) and Shanna Lee Andrade (Brandon Heinkel) both of Bristol, a grandson, Joshua Andrade, brother and sisters; Kenneth Grey (Debra Martin), Cheryl Rogers (Paul Ramsay), Sherwood Rogers, Donald Rogers, all of Bristol and Nancy Cabral (Alvaro) of Warren, his beloved companion, D.O.G. and his grand-dog, Bob. In addition to his mom, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Grey. A special thanks to the Hospice caregiving team of Marianne Overy and Dawn Shea, who provided care, support and comfort. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his life on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10 a.m., in the Tiverton Rod and Gun Club, 1529 Fish Road, Tiverton, RI. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
