Sen. Bernie Sanders won the day among Rhode Island voters during Tuesday's presidential primary, but in Barrington, more people cast their votes for Hillary Clinton.

In the Democratic primary, 1,490 Barrington residents (or 51.1 percent) voted for Clinton, while 1,398 people (or 48 percent) voted for Sen. Sanders.

Those numbers shifted statewide, where Sanders earned 54.7 percent of the vote and Clinton finished with 43.1 percent.

In the Republican primary, 700 Barrington voters (44.9 percent) cast their ballots for Ohio Governor John Kasich while 687 people (44 percent) voted for Donald Trump. One hundred and forty four people (9.2 percent) voted for Ted Cruz.

Statewide, Mr. Trump won the day with 63.6 percent of the vote, while Kasich finished second (24.3 percent) and Cruz was third (10.4 percent).

Some familiar names popped up in the race for delegates.

Barrington Town Council members Kate Weymouth and June Speakman finished in first and second place, respectively, in the race for delegates for Clinton; people were asked to vote for eight delegates.

Barrington resident and member of the town's committee on appropriations, Chad Mollica, was third in the race for District 1 delegates. Mr. Mollica will serve as a delegate for Mr. Kasich.

Geoff Grove, the chairman of the town's committee on appropriations, was elected as a statewide delegate for Mr. Kasich.
