Robert M. Stone, of Barrington

Robert M. Stone, formerly of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017. Devoted husband of 50 years to Constance (Graham) Stone. Loving son of the late Maurice and Anna (Scovell) Stone. 

Bob received a bachelor of arts degree from Brown University in 1950 and served his country in World War II with the US Army. He was a menswear buyer for Apex Inc. for over 40 years and was an avid reader. 

He was the loving father of John Stone and his wife Jamie of Edwards, Colo., Kyla Mullin and her husband Scott of Swansea, Mass. and Lyssa Opdyke and her husband Geoffrey of Norwell, Mass., and proud papa of Adam and Jessie Stone, Graham and Brendan Opdyke.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
