Robert L. Santos, 73, Bristol

Robert Luther Santos, 73, of Sweeney Lane, Bristol passed away at home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

Born in Burlington, Vt., he was the son of the late Joseph and Jessie (McNally) Santos. He was the father of Kim Santos of Swansea, MA and Keith Santos of Middletown, RI. He also leaves behind his girlfriend, Arlene Weglowski, and sister-in-law, Linda Hathaway. He was the brother of Gloria Pasqual of Bristol, Rev. Joseph Santos of Providence and the late Harold Santos.

Mr. Santos was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School in Bristol. He was a machinist for Rico Machine Company for 24 years and also worked for the Fall River School Department before retiring.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May14 from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., Bristol, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.

Calling hours are Friday, May 13, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
