Each week the Personal Injury Law Offices of d’Oliviera & Associates compiles a summary of recalls, FDA warnings, market withdrawals and safety alerts that they feel the public should be aware of for their safety and so that they can make informed decisions.

Here are 24 recalls to be aware of this week.

Medical Devices & Equipment


  • SentreHeart FindrWIRZ Guidewire System recalled due to Coating Separation - the FindrWIRZ Guidewire System is intended for use during minimally invasive procedures in the cerebrovascular, cardiovascular and peripheral vascular systems. The FDA has identified this as a Class I recall, the most serious type of recall. Use of these devices may cause serious injuries or death.

Pharmaceutical/Drugs

Auto

  • Bentley Bentaygas recalled, model year 2017 - the seat mechanism and instrument panel joints may not be tightened properly.

  • Kia Sportage recalled, model year 2008-2009, was recalled - water may seep into the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit circuit board.

  • Jaguar XFs recalled, model year 2013-2015 - the fuel lines may chafe, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.

Motorcycle/Scooters


  • Suzuki GW250 motorcycles recalled; model year 2013, 2015 and 2017 - corrosion may cause failure of the electrical system

Nutritional Supplements/Vitamins

  • GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Time Release dietary supplement recalled - the product may contain milk, an allergen not declared on the label.

  • NiutriVitaShop, doing business as NatureCom Inc. voluntarily recalled its DMAA because it may contain DMAA. DMAA is ,3-dimethylamylamine, methylhexanamine, also called geranium extract. DMAA is used as a pre-workout, stimulant, and weight loss ingredient in dietary supplement products. According to the FDA DMAA is “potentially dangerous and can cause an increase in blood pressure or other cardiovascular problems.

Food, Beverage & Nutritional


  • Heinz Homestyle Bistro Au Jus Gravy recalled - the product contains milk and soy, allergens not declared on the label.

  • Request Foods recalled GFS brand Cheese Manicotti - the product contains egg, an allergen not declared on the label.

  • Sky Chefs Supply Chain Solutions, Inc, makers of 7-Eleven Chicken and Hummus sandwiches recalled sandwiches with hummus spread – which is subject to a national recall issued by Sabra Dipping Company due to possible listeria contamination. Stores with the recall include Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, and the Buffalo, NY and Washington markets.

  • Handy Seafood Incorporated (“Handy”) voluntarily recalled approximately 71 cases of Blue Crab Mini Crab Cakes because the product contains milk byproducts and anchovies which are known allergens but which are not declared on the label. The products were distributed to Whole Foods Stores in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, and Rhode Island between November 11, 2016 and November 23, 2016.

  • Sabra Dipping Company recalled products labeled “Taylor Farms Veggie and Hummus Bistro Boxes” and “Schnucks Vegetable and Hummus Snack Trays” containing Sabra Hummus Classic 2 oz. dipping cups due to possible listeria contamination.

  • JFC International Inc. voluntarily recalled their confectionery products You-ka Fresh Ramune and You-ka Punch Ramune because they may contain undeclared wheat in the ingredients. The products were distributed to retail stores and other foodservice operators in the states of CA, CT, MA, NJ, and NY.

  • Anderson’s Frozen Custard recalled their “Pumpkin Ice Cream Pies” because they may contain undeclared peanuts.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
