PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth Police reports from over the past week.

Wednesday, June 22

Kevin A. Gomes, 27, of 130 Corys Lane, was charged at 12:16 p.m. with domestic assault following an incident at his home.

Joshua S. Hicks, 26, of no permanent address, was charged at 9:10 a.m. with driving with a suspended license. Police stopped his car on West Main Road in front of Kings Grant Fellowship because it had multiple emblems and other items hanging from the inside rear mirror.

Thursday, June 23

Matthew E. Benoit, 38, of 43 Lydia Ave., Woonsocket, was charged at 8:12 p.m. with obstructing an officer in execution of duty. Mr. Benoit was a passenger in a van pulled over on McCorrie Lane because he was not wearing a seatbelt. Police said Mr. Benoit initially said his first name was Thomas and gave the wrong date of birth. A records check revealed two active warrants for Mr. Benoit’s arrest. At one point Mr. Benoit exited the vehicle and ran eastbound through a backyard and jumped over multiple fences, police said. Police called his cell phone and eventually got him to surrender on Sherwood Terrace, police said.

Friday, June 24

Jody R. Lancaster, 26, of 23 Bristol Ferry Road, was charged just after midnight with domestic assault, driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a chemical test. A few hours earlier, police had responded to a Portsmouth home for a report of a domestic assault. Police said Mr. Lancaster showed up at the home of a woman with whom he had recently broken up and demanded she give him a dog. He pushed the woman against a wall and eventually left without the pet, police said. Police issued a report to be on the lookout for Mr. Lancaster and his car was stopped on East Main Road near President Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

Diane D. Santos, 51, of 7 Betsy Drive, Bristol, was charged at 2:13 a.m. with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police said Ms. Santos’ vehicle drifted over the double yellow line and then slowed down to about 5 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. Her car was pulled over on West Main Road at Freeborn Street.

Saturday, June 25

Robert A. Coleman, 24, of 498 Park Ave., was charged just after 1 a.m. with disorderly conduct (using offensive words at another) after police responded to his home for a loud noise complaint. Police said they arrived at the home to find the front yard littered with empty beer cans and when they came to the front door, a party-goer slammed it in an officer’s face. Police said Mr. Coleman, one of the roommates, acted aggressively and yelled at officers to leave the property while using profanity. Mr. Coleman continued to call officers names after being arrested, according to police.

Sunday, June 26

Nick W. Andrade, 26, of 33 Fairview Ave., Middletown, was charged at 1:16 a.m. driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police pulled his car over for speeding on West Main Road at Prescott Point.

Cesar C. Rodriguez, 34, of 55 15th St., West Babylon, N.Y., and Jessica M. Bowley, 33, of 23 North St., were charged with violating an active no-contact order between them following an argument at Ms. Bowley’s home shortly before 3 a.m. Mr. Rodriguez was also charged with assaulting Ms. Bowley. Police said the pair had been living together for the past month despite the no-contact order.

At about 10:30 a.m. police investigated a report of people burning trash along the railroad tracks that parallel the Sakonnet River Bridge. No one was in the immediate area of the fire when police arrived, although there were about 18 fishermen on both the north and south sides of the peninsula, according to police. The Fire Department reported the fire had been smoldering for a while and was most likely lit overnight. Firefighters extinguished the fire.

Mokbel M. Matta, 59, of 265 Windstone Drive, was charged at 5:30 p.m. with domestic assault in connection with an incident that took place on May 21, when Mr. Matta allegedly assaulted a Portsmouth woman. A warrant was issued for his arrest and police charged him at his home on June 26.

Cherise L. St. Clair, 49, of 83-1/2 Bliss Mine Road, Newport, was charged just before 8 p.m. with driving while intoxicated (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police said they pulled her car over on West Main Road near Redwood Drive for speeding and leaving the lane of travel.

Monday, June 27

Craig D. Smith, 37, of 61C Hart St., Taunton, Mass., was charged with domestic assault shortly after midnight. Police said Mr. Smith struck a woman in front of a Portsmouth home during an argument.

Ryan D. Gilmore, 19, of 214 Rocky Hill Road, Rehoboth, was charged at 2:14 p.m. on a bench warrant issued by 2nd District Court. Police stopped his car for speeding on Boyd’s Lane at the Route 24 North on-ramp.

A 15-year-old girl living at a group home on Bristol Ferry Road was charged at 9:18 p.m. with assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police said the girl assaulted two staff members, was yelling and swearing and refused to leave the home’s office. After a brief struggle with police, she was placed in handcuffs.
