PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth Police reports from over the past week.

Tuesday, Jan. 17

Two people were charged with writing fraudulent checks to Greenleaf Compassion Center, a medical marijuana dispensary on West Main Road. According to Greenleaf, Annette Gagne, 62, of 55 West Friendship St., Providence, wrote a check for $108.34 last October, but it was returned for insufficient funds with a $12 fee attached. Jeffrey S. Vaughn, 54, of 15 Gorham Place. Bristol, was charged with two counts of writing fraudulent checks. The center told police he had submitted checks in September for $359.20 and $227.27, but they were returned for insufficient funds, with two $12 fees attached. Ms. Gagne and Mr. Vaughn were each issued a summons to appear in District Court on Jan. 26 to answer the charges.

Thursday, Jan. 19

David J. Ryan, 49, of 46 Mason Ave., was charged around 9:30 a.m. with writing fraudulent checks to Clements Marketplace. Police said two checks, for $109.05 and $100.50, had bounced and the store was charged an $86 fee due to the bad checks. Clements made the complaint on Jan. 12 and Mr. Ryan was issued a 2nd District Court summons on Jan. 19.

Edward T. Brant, 38, of 1335 Crandall Road, Tiverton, was charged at 5:12 p.m. on a bench warrant issued by 2nd District Court. Mr. Brant was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for speeding on Route 24 North near Sprague Street.

Jason M. Pantig, 38, of 48 Belvedere Drive, Bristol, was charged at about 8:40 p.m. with making harassing or threatening domestic phone calls. Police said a 40-year-old Portsmouth woman complained that Mr. Pantig had sent her harassing text messages despite repeated warnings to stop. A warrant for Mr. Pantig was issued and he was arrested by Bristol Police later that night and transferred to Portsmouth’s custody.

Friday, Jan. 20

Katherine E. Sargent, 40, of 269 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, was arrested on a 2nd District Court bench warrant shortly after 2 a.m. Ms. Sargent was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for leaving the lane of travel on Route 24 North near Turnpike Avenue.

Saturday, Jan. 21

Cheyneicka I. Frazier, 30, of East Providence, was charged at 2:21 a.m. with driving while intoxicated (first offense), refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving without a license. Police pulled Ms. Frazier over on West Main Road near Prescott Point for speeding and leaving the lane of travel.

Sunday, Jan. 22

David N. Champagne, 53, of 69 Carriage Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident and found a 2014 Honda Pilot struck against a tree and stone wall at the corner of Middle Road and Schoolhouse Lane shortly after 11:30 p.m. Mr. Champagne was sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine running, police said. Mr. Champagne, who needed help getting out of the car, was evaluated on the scene by the Portsmouth Fire Department but refused to be transported to a hospital, according to police.
