State police have released the names of the three people killed in a Wednesday morning crash on Route I-195 in Westport between exits 9 and 10 not far from the Dartmouth town line.

John Oliveira, 68, of Dartmouth was pronounced dead at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. State Police say he was driving the 2005 Dodge livery van owned by Regal Transit that crossed the median and crashed head-on into an oncoming car. He may have had a medical incident moments before the van swerved, State Police say.

Josephine Mazzocca, 55, of New Bedford, was riding in the van’s front passenger seat and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Karonlyne Camile Lima, 23, of New Bedford, was riding in the front passenger seat of the 2007 BMW 328i that was struck head-on by the van. Police said she was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital. A 25-year-old Fall River man, who was driving the BMW, was also sent to Rhode Island Hospital, and a 3-year-old boy who was in the back seat was taken by ambulance to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

Three other vehicles were involved and several people were hurt but police did not reveal their names nor the nature of their injuries.

Three other vehicles were also involved in the crash, police said. After the initial collision, the BMW was hit by an eastbound Subaru Outback which burst into flames. This car's driver, a 27-year-old man from Waterbury, Vermont, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

After the van struck the BMW, it crashed into an Audi A4 headed eastbound. The Audi driver, a 34-year-old Fall River man, was not hurt.

A fifth vehicle avoided then other vehicles but hit a sign post in the median. The driver, a 73-year-old Barrington man, was not injured.
