Bristol Police officers responded to the following calls between May 9 and May 16:

Monday, May 9

A rabid fox was reportedly wandering around the area of Fatima Drive just before 8:30 a.m. Animal control officers responded, finding there to be no problem.

A fox and a cat were reportedly fighting on Pawtucket Avenue around 3:30 p.m. There was no arrest made. Later in the evening, two dogs were fighting on Normand Street. Animal control officers took one of the canines into custody.

Tuesday, May 10

A glass door was vandalized at the Walley School on High Street. Officers filed a report of the damage.

Police broke up a fight on Wood Street just after 10:30 a.m. There was no arrest made.

Officers were called to the baseball field at Guiteras School on Washington Street because of loud music at 4:30 in the afternoon. Police frequently receive noise complaints at that location. No citation was issued.

Reports of a fight on First Street around 6:30 p.m. indicated one of four combatants had a shovel for a weapon. Police could find no evidence of a shovel on the scene and made no arrest.

Wednesday, May 11

Police and rescue personnel responded to a car accident at Woodlawn and Metacom avenues just before noon. One driver was taken to Newport Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Thursday, May 12

A suspicious “bang” knocked out power to some residents on Oliver Street just after 8 a.m. National Grid was notified to fix the problem and restore power.

A caller reported two juveniles were yelling obscenities at passing drivers on Sherry Avenue just before 4 p.m. Officers could not find the nuisance children upon arrival.

A man wearing a green shirt and brown pants reportedly defecated on the sidewalk on Bradford Street around 5:30 p.m. There was no arrest made.

Friday, May 13

Two men were reportedly fighting in Wood Street around 2 p.m., one of whom was holding a club. It turned out the men weren’t fighting. The caller misunderstood the situation.

Officers responded to a call from Warren Police reporting two cars speeding and driving recklessly down Metacom Avenue southbound from the Warren line at 6:30 p.m. Police were unable to find the white Jeep and gray Nissan.

Saturday, May 14

A resident called police to complain about heavy traffic from a funeral mass at Wood and Franklin streets at 11:30 a.m. There was no police action needed.

A car reportedly rolled over on Thames Street just before 7 p.m. Four people in the car were injured but refused medical treatment.

Police responded to several nuisance animal calls throughout the day, as well as noise complaints on West Street and Wood Street.

Sunday, May 15

It was apparently a noisy Saturday night, as police were kept busy responding to noise complaints around the town into the wee hours of Sunday morning. Three people were reportedly talking loudly and kicking cars on Congregational Street at 1:30 a.m. Officers dispersed a large group of people hanging out in the road at Bay View and Monroe avenues about the same time. There were also noise complaints on High Street, Lincoln Avenue and Bay View Avenue.
