Barrington police responded to Salisbury Road at about 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 after an uninvited individual reportedly tried to enter a home through a dog door.
Police said the residents were home making breakfast when they noticed the man trying enter through the dog door. They called police as the man fled the area.
Barrington police officers responded and began a search for the individual. A woman who was walking her dog told officers that she had just seen a man running into the woods at the end of Salisbury Road, which is located near Haines Park.
An officer later located the man — a 35-year-old East Providence resident — in the woods. The man said he thought he was at a friend's house.
The Salisbury Road residents told police they did not want to press charges so the man was released. Police said the case is still "pending."
