EAST PROVIDENCE — In their first ever night contest at the refurbished East Providence High School field, the host Townies routed visiting Toll Gate by the 10-Run Rule, 14-1, Saturday evening, May 21.
Senior pitcher Haley Rodriques limited the Titans to a pair of hits en route to the win in the circle for the locals, who improved to 9-7 in the Division I standings.
Freshman third baseman Emma DaSilva delivered the offensive highlight for the Townies, crushing a home run to left-center field in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Saturday night's outing was the culmination of some five years of work put in by Townies' head coach Rob Traverse as well as several volunteers and city workers to rebuild what was the run-down field at the high school.
