EAST PROVIDENCE — One resident was taken to hospital as a result of injuries suffered during a house fire Tuesday, Aug. 30.

East Providence Fire Chief Oscar Elmasian said the bulk of the damage to the home took place on the second floor of the dwelling located on Apulia Street between Waterman and Grove Avenues.

The injured apparently jumped from a window on the upper level of the home. He was found by police on the front lawn.

EPFD crews arrived on the scene just before mid-day. Chief Elmasian said the state fire marshal's office, East Providence's fire prevention unit and the E.P. Police Bureau of Criminal Identification were on hand investigating the cause of the fire.
