Mildred Wildes LiVecchi, 93, a long-time resident of Little Compton, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at the Alta Ridge Alzheimer’s Community in Sandy, Utah, following a number of years at the Sakonnet Bay Manor Memory Care Unit in Tiverton.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of Theodore B. Wildes of S. Dartmouth, Mass., and Inez Shaw Wildes of Little Compton.

Mil attended U.R.I. and graduated in engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. She worked at the Curtis Wright airplane factory in Buffalo, N.Y., where she met her husband, the late Alfred “Cappy” LiVecchi. They lived on Long Island, NY, in Flanders, NJ, and in Florida.

Prior to Cappy’s death, they purchased a house on East View Drive so Mil could return to Little Compton to be close to family and the ocean she was so fond of. She had traveled to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, China, and Thailand. She was a talented golfer. Mil loved exploring the rocky shores of R.I., and walking and swimming at South Shore and Briggs Beach. She loved flowers and was a member of the Sogkonnet Garden Club. She was a member of the United Congregational Church and volunteered at the LC Thrift Shop.

Mil was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred, her brothers Merrick Wildes and Richard Wildes, and her sister Winifred Munger. She is survived by her brothers Horace Wildes and Glenn Wildes and her sister Frances Wilber. She is also survived by her step-daughter Nina (Ed ) Dirks of Miami, and sons Alfred LiVecchi of Sandy, Utah, and Patrick (Marsha) LiVecchi of Willow Springs, NC. Mil is the beloved grandmother of Lara (Will) Kain, Tara (Ray) Bennett, and Brian (Lauren) LiVecchi, and great-grandmother of Xavier and Xander Kain, Abigail, Caleb, Owen, and Lucy Bennett, and Michael, Jake, and Josh LiVecchi.

Mil’s family would like to offer a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Sakonnet Bay Manor Memory Care Unit, and the Alta Ridge Alzheimer’s Community, as well as the support from the Mill Creek Hospice. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Little Compton. Contributions may be made in Mil’s name to the United Congregational Church, P.O. Box 506, Little Compton, R.I. 02837.
