Maria doCeu (Borges) Amaral, 88, of Rosita Avenue, passed away on Jan. 22 at home. She was the wife of the late Deodato Amaral.  

Born in Povacao, St. Michael, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria Julia (Medeiros) Amaral. She was the mother of Eduarda Medeiros, Alda DaRosa, John Amaral and the late Durval Amaral; grandmother of Steven Medeiros, Michelle Aitkens, Eric Medeiros, Stacy Sousa, Tina Vollaro, Nichole Campos, Brittney DaRosa, Stephanie Vaughn, Patricia Luis and Jason Amaral; great grandmother of 20 and great-great grandmother of 2. She was the sister of Zelia Amaral and the late Tony “Salizar” Borges, Deolinda Brandao, David Borges, Carlos Borges and Joao Borges.

Her funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 27, 10 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours are Thursday, 4-8 p.m.
