Margaret (Vaccaro) Caizzi, 95, Bristol

Mrs. Margaret (Vaccaro) Caizzi, 95, of Bristol, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank C. Caizzi, to whom she had been married 69 years at the time of his death.
Born in Bristol and a life-long resident, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Giovannina (Malafronte) Vaccaro. Margaret graduate from Colt Memorial High School, class of 1939. She was employed by the former Priscilla Sportswear of Bristol and by the Rhode Island Bridge Authority before her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society. She was also a member of the Sons of Italy – Leonardo Da Vinci Lodge, the Senior Bowling League and the Viking Bridge Club. She enjoyed walking with her husband through town, crocheting, playing duplicate bridge and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. 
She resided at both the Franklin Court Independent Living Facility and the Assisted Living Facility for the past 5 years, where she participated in all activities. She was a champion bocce player, Wii bowling, bingo and card player. Above all, she enjoyed being with both her immediate family and her many nieces and nephews and their families and her godchildren. 
She is survived by her son, Frank Caizzi, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Bristol; her daughter, Kathleen Caizzi, M.D. and her partner John Pellegrini, MD, of Whitesburg, Kentucky. Also surviving are three grandchildren, David Caizzi and his wife Susan of Barrington, Debra Messenger and her husband James of Rehoboth, Mass., and Carolyn Caizzi of Chicago, IL; and four great grandchildren, Michael and Alex Caizzi and Lucy and Harry Messenger. In addition to her husband and parents, she was a sister of the late Fannie Apicella, Lucretia Massa, Theresa Cardoza and Pasquale, Domenic, Louis and Vincent Vaccaro. 
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Wednesday morning only from 9-10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol, RI  02809.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
