Man missing in Little Compton

LITTLE COMPTON — A search continues in Little Compton for a man who has been missing since earlier in the week and who relies on medication.

Michael J. Godles, 39, of 406 West Main Road, Little Compton, was last seen on Tuesday morning, April 26, 2016, outside his home near a wooded area in the backyard.

No one has seen or heard from him since, said Little Compton Police Chief Antone (Buzzy) Marion Friday night about 9, and as of early Saturday morning he remains missing.

Mr. Godles suffers from a medical condition which requires him to have medication. It is the family's belief, and that of the police said Chief Marion, that Michael may be somewhere in the woods located behind his house.

A thorough search of the area by Little Compton officers, assisted by Little Compton Fire Department personnel, was conducted Friday afternoon. The search was assisted by members of the Rhode Island State Police along with K-9 units.

The United States Coast Guard, Woods Hole, also dispatched a helicopter to the area, and it performed an aerial search for approximately 40 minutes.

An expanded search was to resume Saturday morning, officials said.

Chief Marion has asked that anyone who has seen Mr. Godles, or who has knowledge of his possible whereabouts, please contact the Little Compton Police Department at 401-635-2311.
