To the editor:

I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to go door to door, meeting the people of Portsmouth, as I campaigned for a seat on the Portsmouth Town Council.

Throughout the summer and fall, you were generous with your time and thoughtful in expressing what you believe works well in our town and what you believe can be improved. I’m grateful to all those whose votes have allowed me to be your voice on the Town Council.

It is my firm intention to keep my door open to everyone during my tenure, and I encourage you to continue to communicate your concerns, suggestions and comments. You may contact me at 401/472-4721 or lindaujifusa.ri@gmail.com.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
