Letter: Town Council needs to remember whom it serves

Posted

To the editor:

Citizens in this country have begun to voice their opinion on how our government continues to grow and spend our tax dollars, satisfying the wishes of special interest groups who lobby them to increase spending rather than first protecting the interests of hard-working taxpayers.

The very same thing is happening in our town.

The town council continues to satisfy the spending demands of special groups who present themselves at budget time and fail to remember our hardworking taxpayer groups who have until now voiced little opposition. I know the pressure first-hand, but I also know that there is a job that needs to be done in the interests of all. We need to leave the excuses behind.

Being on the council ins an honor and a privilege, not necessarily a lifetime career.
