Letter: Budget #1 the only responsible choice for Tiverton

Spring in Tiverton means more than just the sweet smell of green grass and flora in bloom. It also means the stench of destruction and deception as prep for the FTR vote begins to take shape. Until our charter rules are changed, this time of year will always bring out those who are driven to stop at nothing to ruin this town.

Please take time to educate yourself on the importance of voting for the only vetted and responsible budget for our town, Budget #1. Please also take the time to educate yourselves on the resolutions on the ballot too. Do not rely on the illegal propaganda postcards showing up in your mailbox, or the hate tactics of those too scared of their own shadow.

I cannot stand by without commenting on the other two individuals who have submitted budgets that will decimate our town, our services and resources designed to maintain the well-being for the whole of the town. Joe Sousa and Justin Katz have crafted such ill-fated budgets, and both could care less about the consequences. Joe Sousa cannot even explain his budget (see the tape of the FTR hearing) and Justin Katz does not provide line items — only a number he came up with in his head. Both are simply repeating information spoon fed to them by a super conservative special interest group of individuals. How uninspiring is this?

Neither will stand by the conviction of their own sense of self, relying on others to pull their strings. Neither would even collect their own pathetic 50 signatures needed to place their budgets on the ballot, sending others out to beg for them instead. Again, these charter rules need a long overdue revision.

Neither of these individuals, nor their budgets, are worth the added cost or consequences they repeatedly place on our town. Both of these individuals are never held accountable for their behavior and it is about time they answer to the damage they cause without a care for the consequences this places on others.

Budget#1 is the only vetted and responsible budget. Please choose wisely.
