John Ignacio Almeida, 84, Bristol

John Ignacio Almeida, 84, of Waterman Street, passed away on July 12 at Roger Williams Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Teresa (Alves) Almeida.

Born in Aflitos, Fenais Da Luz, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao and Diamantina (Borges) Almeida. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Walter Almeida and his wife Julia; grandchildren Julian Almeida, Jordan Almeida, Alexander Almeida and Nicholas Almeida; and his brother, Luis Almeida. He was the father of the late John Almeida and brother of the late Fernando Almeida.

Before retiring, Mr. Almeida worked for Roger Williams University for 27 years as food service manager.

His funeral services will be held Friday, July 15 from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St. Calling hours are from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Bristol.
