Hirum A. Jamiel was a true lover of people, especially his wife, Irene, and their children. He passed away peacefully on July 14, 2016 in Warren, RI.

Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Falugo) Jamiel. He graduated from Warren High School (1953) and Bryant College (1957). Hirum Jamiel was a lifelong entrepreneur who founded Jamiel Insurance Agency and Jamiel Accounting Services.

A committed veteran, he served in the Rhode Island National Guard for 22 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Rhode Island Independent Insurance Agents. He was a distinguished member of the Rhode Island Freemasons.

A sampling of his services with the Freemasons included Past Master Washington Lodge #3, Most Excellent Past Grand High Priest of the RI Grand Chapter, Most Illustrious Past Grand Master of the RI Grand Council and Past Commander of Calvary Commandry. He was a member of St. Jean Baptiste Church in Warren. Hirum balanced business and family.

He was always visible in the audience or on the sidelines whenever his children were performing or competing. In addition to supporting his children he enjoyed running and boating. He played the snare drum with various drum and bugle corps.

Besides his extraordinary wife, he leaves behind his children: Heidi Jamiel, Kurt Jamiel and his wife Mary, Christina Minicucci and her husband Steven, and Hirum Jamiel II and his wife Carolina; and his grandchildren, Christopher, Zachary and Victoria Minicucci, Hirum Jamiel III, and Matias and Massimo Jamiel. He was the brother of Bolus Jamiel, Edward Jamiel, James Jamiel, Zenobia Paulhardt and Anissa Polando; and the late Amon Jamiel, Morphis Jamiel, Joseph Jamiel, Albert Jamiel, Ziena Wilis, Melia Scheffler and Genevieve Jamiel.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, in St. Jean Baptiste Church, Main Street, Warren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mt Hope Marching Band, 199 Chestnut St., Bristol, RI 02809 or St Jude’s Childrens Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
