Mt. Hope High School graduate and former Rhode Island College soccer star Kyle Teixeira will be inducted into the Little East Conference Athletic Hall of Fame, the conference announced.

Mr. Teixeira is one of the most successful men’s soccer players in RIC history, having been inducted into RIC’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He closed out his career having played in 80 games, starting 77 of them. He had 82 goals and 27 assists for 191 career points. The Warren native holds the RIC records for the most goals and points in a career, and is second in career assists. Mr. Teixeira also holds the RIC record for the most goals scored in a season, set as a sophomore in 2003.

He was a three-time Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year selection and was named First Team All-LEC in each of his four seasons. Mr. Teixeira was named to the All-75th Anniversary Men’s Soccer Team in 2005.

As a senior in 2005, Mr. Teixeira was named the Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Year, the third of his career, and was selected First Team All-LEC for the fourth consecutive season, as Rhode Island College captured the 2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship. He became just the second player in LEC history to earn Offensive Player of the Year honors three times to go along with four straight First Team All-Conference selections.

He played in 22 games that year, starting 21 of them. He led the team and the LEC in both goals and points with 19 and 49, respectively. Mr. Teixeira led the team with four game-winning goals. He also had a team-best 11 assists, one shy of the RIC single-season record. He broke Domenico Petrarca’s 1977 record for career points early in the season versus M.I.T. with a two-goal, one-assist performance in a RIC, 3-1, win on Sept. 10.

In high school, Mr. Teixeira was an All-American, All-New England, All-State and All-Division selection during his outstanding career at Mt. Hope High School.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education/health from Rhode Island College in 2007 and is currently an Academy Staff Coach with the New England Revolution. He lives in Warren.

Mr. Teixeira will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a gala event held at the Providence Marriott on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m. Admission to the event is $50 and tickets can be purchased at http://mkt.com/LEC. Tickets must be ordered by Oct. 1.
