Donald E. Crowther, 84, of Little Compton, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Joan (Marcille) Crowther; they were married for 60 years.
Born in Fall River, son of the late George and Evelyn (Gagnon) Crowther, he had lived in Dartmouth prior to moving to Little Compton in 1986. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Navy.
He along with his brother opened The Commons in 1966 and, in 1982, opened Crowthers with his brother. Mr. Crowther was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton. An avid Boston sports fan, he also enjoyed boxing and traveling, but most of all he loved his family and working at his family restaurants.
Including his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald P. Crowther of Little Compton and Christopher J. Crowther and his wife Imm of Dartmouth; a brother, George Crowther of Little Compton; and two grandchildren, Laura Crowther and Angela Crowther.
