Claire Pearce, 89, Tiverton

Claire (Driscoll) Pearce, 89, of Tiverton, passed away on May 17, 2016.  She was the widow of Milton Wimer Pearce.  Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Edith Annie (Bradley) and Timothy Patrick Driscoll.

A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, she had worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Rubin.  She was a member of the Amicable Congregational Church, Tiverton, and its former Social Club.  She also belonged to the Newport County Women's Club.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Pinckney (Dan) and Bradley Pearce. Grandchildren are Rachael Pearce Manning (Steve), and Timothy, Christopher and Thomas Pinckney.  Great grandchildren are Lilah Pearce and Zachary Pearce. Road, Tiverton, at  10 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.  Arrangements are with the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home.  www.almeida-pocasset.com for on line guestbook.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
