Caroline M. Howell, a resident of the Clarksville, TN area, died Tuesday, the 17th of January, 2017 at Nashville Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Born on March 1, 1934, in Framingham, MA., the daughter of the late Joseph and Enrichetta Maffioli, Caroline received a Nursing Degree from Saint Elizabeth's Hospital Nursing School on September 5th,1954. On June 26, 1954 Caroline married the love of her life, George Howell. Caroline worked in nursing at various health care facilities throughout central Massachusetts and Rhode Island. When George and Caroline moved to Bloomington Indiana in 1978, she worked for Bloomington Hospital until her retirement.
Caroline was a giving person, always had a quest for knowledge, and loved reading and spending time with her nine children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She throughly enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Aruba every November for the last 30 years.
Besides her parents, Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, George Howell. She is survived by her nine children, Georgeanne (Richard) Smith of Swansea, MA, Carol (Raymond Zangari) Larkin of Barrington, RI, Kathleen (Richard) Hayes of Southside, TN, John Howell of Bloomington, IN, Judy (Bob Marlowe) Howell of Leesville, IN, Michael Howell of Bloomington, IN, Mark (Mary) Howell of Dayton, OH, Sharon (Mark) Peterson of Sarasota, FL, Jeffrey (Chris) Howell of Bedford, IN; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Hope Pregnancy Center, 325 N 2nd Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.

The funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 21 at Salem United Methodist Church, Clarksville, with Rev. Stephen Sauls officiating.
