Bristol Police: 'Suspicious' activity, loud partiers

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between June 13 and June 20:
Monday, June 13
Police assisted with an accident around noon at Narrows Road and Ursula Drive during which a car swerved off the road. Rescue services were requested for unspecified injuries and authorities inspected a damaged telephone pole.
Officers helped remove an unwanted person from a home on Bliven Street at 2 p.m. during a family dispute.
Police investigated an online scam involving iTunes gift cards. Consumers are advised to be aware of the scam.
A caller reported seeing a suspicious black pick-up truck on camera from a location on Broadcommon Road at 8 p.m. It turned out to be no problem; just a delivery person dropping off a generator.
Police responded to two “suspicious” activity reports at Independence Park on Thames Street at midnight, one at Narrows Point just before midnight, and another at Annawamscutt Drive and King Philip Avenue. The cases involved unoccupied cars and further police action was unnecessary.
Tuesday, June 14
The “suspicious” activity reports continued into the wee hours of Tuesday morning all around the town — on Chestnut Street, Constitution Street, Elmwood Drive and at Rockwell School. Police investigated and filed reports. There were no arrests or citations issued.
A resident of San Francisco Street called police to report an unwanted person in his home while he was at work around noon. Police went to the home, finding the front door open but no one in the house.
Wednesday, June 15
Police investigated complaints of loud neighbors at Hope and Franklin streets around 12:30 a.m. There was no citation issued.
A caller reported two juveniles walking on Mt. Hope Bridge just before 11:30 a.m. They turned out not to be juveniles, but workers on the bridge.
Police received reports of mail tampering at a home on Francis Street. The US Postal Service in investigating and recommended the resident file a local police report as well.
A tall, thin man wearing shorts and a blue T-shirt tried to enter a home on Primrose Drive around 2:30 p.m. The man is known to police for routinely taking cans from recycling bins, according to reports. He was issued a no trespass order.
Police assisted a resident on Hope Street with a snapping turtle that had wandered into the backyard.
Thursday, June 16
Police joined an official Roger Williams University to investigate suspicious activity that was reported on Lower Ferry Road around 2 a.m. The officers checked under the bridge and around the shoreline, finding nothing.
Police assisted with an accident on Hope Street around 7 p.m. One driver was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with unspecified injuries, and National Grid was called to repair a pole.
Officers helped free a cat that had gotten stuck in a crate on Wood Street.
A man walking a dog and wearing no shirt was reportedly screaming in the middle of the road at High and Oliver streets just after 8:30 p.m. He was gone when police arrived.
Friday, June 17
A passer-by called police just before 9 p.m. to report a woman crying next to a car in a parking lot on Metacom Avenue. There was no problem, however. The woman was upset after having just learned her sister is moving away.
Saturday, June 18
A group of people were reportedly partying loudly in the street on Colonial Road around 2 a.m. Police issued the offending partiers a court summons.
Someone called police to report that a man wearing a red shirt placed a branch in the gazebo on the Town Common at 7 p.m. An officer removed the branch.
Police responded to several noise complaints beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Woodlawn Avenue, Monroe Aveun, Prospect Street, Sousa Street and Washington Street. No citations were issued.
Sunday, June 19
Police were called to the Mt. Hope Bridge four times between 3:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. for reports of people walking or biking on the bridge. Pedestrians are not allowed on the bridge.
Two man were reportedly soliciting passers-by and possibly drinking alcohol at Union Street Beach around 2 p.m. Officers sent the men on their way.
A resident on Bourne St. called to complain about his neighbor using a fire pit around 7:30 p.m. There was no issue. Fire pits are legal.
A resident on Hope Street called to report a possibly intoxicated woman walking down the street at 9 p.m. There was no issue. The woman was just walking home.
