The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between Aug. 8 and Aug. 15:
Monday, Aug. 8
Officers responded to a possible domestic violence situation on Constitution Street around 12:30 a.m. They determined the fight to be strictly verbal and made no arrest.
Officers assisted the Fire Department and the Coast Guard after a raft was found adrift near Potter Cove off Prudence Island. Authorities could find no one in distress and determined the left had just been left behind.
Tuesday, Aug. 9
Police assisted with a reportedly unruly teenager on Anthony Avenue, helping restore the peace before leaving.
A passing drive on Naomi Street reported around 1 p.m. what they thought was a domestic violence incident in another car. It, too, turned out to be only a verbal fight.
A group of juveniles was jumping off the dock at Independence Park on Thames Street at 1:30 p.m. Police moved them along.
A patrolman encountered a man lying on the ground at Wood and Franklin streets just before midnight. Rescue services were called. There was no further report on the man’s condition.
Wednesday, Aug. 10
A suspicious man was reportedly checking out the area around Washington Street around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Police filed a report Wednesday morning.
A resident on Leila Jean Drive called to report a suspicious man knocking on her door around 9:30 p.m., asking if her husband was home. Officers caught up with the man, finding he is a neighbor looking for a lost dog.
Thursday, Aug. 11
A car was stolen from a driveway on Fox Hill Avenue sometime over night. Police found the car at the Cup Defenders Association on Wood Street. Officers are investigating.
Two men were reportedly burning something in the street at Betsy Drive and Birchwood Road just after 9:30 p.m. The men were gone when police arrived, and there was no report on what the men may have been burning.
Police investigated suspicious activity complaints at Independence Park around 4 p.m., on Deer Run Road at 10 p.m. and on Franklin Street just after 10 p.m. There were no arrests made.
Friday, Aug, 12
Police took a woman into custody on St. Elizabeth Street around 3:30 a.m. after they had been called to the area for reports of a suspicious car parked in front of a home. Bristol officers did not arrest the woman — so she is not identified — but they transported her to Warren Police, where she was reportedly wanted for questioning on a court order violation.
A group of people were reportedly lighting objects on fire and throwing them into a vacant lot on Michael Drive. The owner of the lot reported the activity, and police filed a report.
A dingy was reportedly stolen from a boat Aaron Avenue. The Harbormaster’s Officer recovered the dingy.
A salesperson was reportedly soliciting on Narrows Road around 6 p.m. Police told the seller to contact town hall for a soliciting permit, which is required for door-to-door sales in Bristol.
A resident on First Street called police around 8:30 p.m. because a light outside the home was blinking. Officers determined it to be a faulty light.
Another resident called police because they thought a man walking — not driving — along Hope Street might be drunk. He was just walking to a friend’s house.
Saturday, Aug. 13
Police were called to “suspicious activity” on St. Elizabeth Street just before 2 a.m., which turned out to be a woman sleeping in her car.
Two men were reportedly trying to open doors to a home on Monkey Wrench Lane around 7 p.m. They were gone when police arrived.
Roger Williams University security officers called police to report a man sleeping in a car with the car alarm going off on Old Ferry Road at 7 a.m. The man was in the passenger seat waiting for his friends who were out on a boat.
Two cars were reportedly broken into on Central Street and another was robbed on Baker Street. Police are investigating.
A credit card was reportedly stolen from a resident and used at Midland Farms convenience store on Wood Street. Police took statements from the victim.
Sunday, Aug. 14
Pawtucket Police called to report finding a car that was reportedly stolen in Bristol was found at Roosevelt Avenue and Tingly Street in that city. It was taken for fingerprints and returned to town.
A resident reported 10 people were trespassing on Hopeworth Beach around 2:30 p.m. It turned out the group is part of the Hopeworth Association and allowed to be there.
