Defenseman scores lone goal in win over Portsmouth

The Eagles took away another win over the long weekend defeating Portsmouth 1-0 on Monday.

Barrington defenseman Drew Sirmalis score the boys' lone goal in the second period. Michael Grieve and Dominic Robidoux assisted on the goal. Barrington Josh Cabral stopped all 17 shots he faced and Barrington ha 25 shots on Portsmouth. 

On Saturday, the Eagles won 4-0 against North Smithfield. In the first period Barrington scored three of their goals. The first goal was scored by Michael Grieve assisted by Nick Bernardo. The next goal was scored by Dominic Robidoux with assists from Bernardo and TJ Hall.

The last goal of the period was scored by TJ Hall with an assist from Ian Coyne. In the second period, Hall scored the final goal of the night with assists from Coyne and Grieve. Cabral made 15 saves.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
