Anne Marie Bouchard of Newport died unexpectedly at Newport Hospital on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017. Born on May 17, 1934, she was 83 years young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A.R. Bouchard in July of 1992.

Anne was remembered as “Mrs. Bou” by her students at Wilbur-McMahon School in Little Compton where she was an aide for 20 years. She resided in her own home until 2012.

Anne is survived by her three children, Marcella Bouchard of Tiverton, George S. Bouchard of Texas, and Katie Medeiros of Portsmouth. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Adrianne Gordon (Jennifer Harris) of North Carolna, Ruth VanPetten (Karl) of Washington, Kailyn Shippee (Ian) of Rhode Island, Leanne Stump (Patrick) of Maryland, and Zachary Medeiros of Rhode Island. The joys of her life were her six great grandchildren, August Gordon of North Carolina, Isabelle and Emaline VanPetten of Washington, Maura O’Neill of Maryland, and Matilda and Bowen Shippee of Rhode Island.

Anne was very involved in her community as she worked at the Community Center after her retirement from Wilbur-McMahon School. She was an avid reader, loved to draw and paint, and play games on her Kindle. She served as president of the Residents Council for several years where she lived. She will be missed by many.

There will be no service per Anne’s wishes. She would like a memorial service when all her family next meets in Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements were by Fern Acres Funeral Home, Little Compton.
