Anna-Louise Baxter, 89, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, Alpharetta, Georgia, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and diminished capacity.
She leaves her daughter Marianne Baxter (Robert King) of Lexington, Massachusetts, Joseph Baxter (Ellen Baxter) of Roswell, Georgia, Timothy Baxter (Lynn Digby Baxter) of Atlanta and beloved grandchildren Gavin Baxter-King, Ryan Baxter-King, Dylan Baxter-King, Eli Baxter, Lauren Baxter, Andrew Baxter and Elizabeth Baxter.
Anna-Louise (Somers) was born in Endicott, N.Y. on July 20, 1926 to Holmes W. Somers Sr. and Mary (Yeager) Somers. She was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School and the Ridley Secretarial School. She had outstanding secretarial and personal skills, which culminated in her final position as a departmental secretary for the Brown University Medical School Department of Pathology, from which she retired in 1991.
She married Joseph William Baxter, Sr. in 1949 in Endicott, N.Y. and remained his spouse until his death in 1984. She lived most of her adult life in Rumford where she was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. Anna-Louise was active in numerous community and Catholic auxiliary organizations and was a devoted supporter of her children’s activities. An outstanding bridge player, she was always sought out to play. Her activities also included sewing, gardening, bowling, needlepoint, crochet, knitting, tatting, baking and painting.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret’s Church on May 7 at 9 a.m.
