The annual Miss/Little Miss Fourth of July Pageant is on Saturday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at the Mt. Hope High School Performing Arts Center on Chestnut Street. The mistress of ceremonies for the event will be Mary Lou Palumbo.

Fifteen young ladies between the ages of 16 and 20 will vie for the title of Miss Fourth of July 2016 and 15 girls, ages 7 to 9, will compete for the Little Miss Fourth of July crown.

The pageant will begin with a dance routine performed by the contestants. Students from Rosemary’s School of Dance will perform two dance selections.

Jessica Tella, Miss Fourth of July 2015, and Alana Martin, Little Miss Fourth of July 2015, will lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Victoria Carroll.

Each contestant is judged in three categories: private interviews with four judges, poise/appearance, and response to a question on stage. In all, eight young ladies will preside over the 2016 Bristol Fourth of July celebration: Miss Fourth of July and her court of four runners-up and Little Miss Fourth of July and her court of two runners-up. Contestants also select one young lady to receive the Miss Congeniality award.

Each winner and court member will receive prizes donated by local businesses. Miss Fourth of July 2016 will receive a scholarship donated by the Fourth of July Chief Marshals’ Association.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $8 for children under 10 at the door.
