Cool The Earth program teaches lessons in energy savings
Students at Hampden Meadows School are turning off lights, walking to school, and wearing an extra layer of clothing this winter in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint. In a program called Cool The Earth, the entire student body, staff and faculty have made a commitment to saving energy in an 11-week initiative that kicked off in January.

The Barrington Town Council voted on amendments to zoning ordinances as recommended by the Barrington Planning Board after a lengthy public hearing on Feb. 6. The council voted to approve the conversion of single-family homes into two-family units and approved allowing multi-family homes as part of a mixed-use commercial development — both are allowed by special use permit only.
Waterfront the key to Police Cove Park plans

On Monday night, Jan. 30, the Police Cove Committee, representatives from the consulting group hired to work on plans for the park, Ken Farmer from Project For Public Places, town council members, and a handful of residents attended a workshop focused on the park. The attendees also shared ideas and opinions on what the park could become; consensus was to utilize the waterfront as much as possible.

U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse held a community dinner and discussion on Tuesday night at Barrington High School. More than 120 people from the East Bay and beyond attended the evening where a dinner of pasta, meatballs, salad, rolls and cookies were served free of charge.

Parent of Hampden Meadows School student says there are 3 cases at that school
A health advisory was sent to families of Barrington Middle School students after a local student was diagnosed with pertussis, also known as whooping cough. Pertussis is a highly contagious disease that is spread through coughing and sneezing. Two more students may also have the illness, but the cases have not yet been confirmed.
Barrington students learn life lessons through program
Middle school students create products as part of Business America program
Duct tape bracelets, locker magnets made from soda cans and origami ornaments were for sale at Barrington Middle School (BMS) last month, just prior to the holiday break. The sixth grade students at the school were selling their homemade wares as part of Business America, a three month long lesson generated from the math department.
