Former Westport High School boy’s basketball standout CJ Moss is playing his second season for the Tuft’s University men’s basketball team.  A two time Fall River Herald News All Scholastic All Star and two time New Bedford Standard Times Super Team selection, Moss transferred to the Taft School in Watertown, Conn., following his junior year at Westport.  He was named captain of the Taft team which played in the Class A division of the New England Prep School League and earned all star honors as well as completing his high school career with 1,250 points.
Recruited by numerous colleges, Moss selected Tuft’s University due to its high academic standing as well as its athletic participation in the NESCAC league, one of the most competitive leagues in Division 3 basketball. A biology major, Moss has pre-med education as a future goal.
Both Moss and the Tufts team enjoyed success during his freshman year with Tufts finishing 16-9, its best record in a number of years. Moss broke into the starting lineup after the third game and remained a starter for the remainder of the season. Converted to shooting guard, he finished the season with a 7.2 point scoring average on a team with balanced scoring. An outstanding defensive player, Moss was called upon to defend the opposition’s best offensive guards during the year and his play earned him runner-up NESCAC rookie of the year.
In his second season on the Jumbo’s squad, Moss continues to start at the shooting guard position. Through the first 17 games he is averaging 8 points and 2 assists per game, is second on the team in minutes played and is shooting 45% from 3 point range.
Tufts was at North Dartmouth on January 29 to play against UMass Dartmouth.  Unfortunately,  Moss suffered a hip injury in his previous game which will keep him off the court for that game and several more.  He is hoping to return for the NESCAC playoffs , the winner of which will earn an invitation to the NCAA Division 3 tournament.
