Tiverton Pitch, Hit and Run is Saturday

The Tiverton Little League will host the local 2013 Pitch, Hit & Run Competition, the official skills competition of Major League Baseball, at Pocasset Baseball Field in Tiverton on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parking is available at the south end of Shove Street.

The event is open to competitors ages 7 – 14 (as of July 17, 2013). Participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate.

There will be four levels of competition based upon age, and separate divisions for boys and girls. Participation is free.

The competition will take about 15 minutes to complete, depending on the number of people waiting to participate at each station. Winners of this local competition will be notified within two days and will square off against the winners of other Rhode Island communities on May 11 at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket.

The winners of the state competition will compete against winners from the other New England states at Fenway Park in June. Regional champions win a free trip to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game and are allowed on the field during the Home Run Derby.

To participate, download a registration form at the Tiverton Little League website, www.tivertonlittleleague.org. For any questions, contact Tom Perella at [email protected].
