PORTSMOUTH — Portsmouth Little League scored a hat trick in its district title games over the past few days.
All three All-Star teams — the 10-year-olds, 11-year-olds and 12-year-olds — won their respective district titles and advanced to the upcoming state championship round this weekend.
According to Little League officials and parents, it’s the first time in memory that all thee teams have advanced to the states.
The 12-year-olds beat Barrington in the District 2 title game Saturday night in Portsmouth, capping off a tournament in which the home team won four straight games.
It was the third straight year that the 12s had reached the district finals.
Portsmouth advances to the state championships to be held July 19-24 at King Philip Little League’s Veterans Field, 700 Wood St., Bristol.
The 11-year-olds won their district championship Monday night and are expected to play in Lincoln for the state championship round. The 11s also won four straight games.
The 10s won three consecutive games to take their district title Saturday night in a double-header of sorts with the 12s. The 10-year-olds will compete in Woonsocket for the state championship.
