With only three more matches to play in the regular season for the Mt. Hope girls’ tennis team, coach Geoff Keegan is focusing on what comes after that, when his team, once again, competes for the state championship.

“We’re facing the same thing as we did last year,” Mr. Keegan said of last year’s 14-0 team. “We just want to maintain calm and composure.”

While dominating the courts in their Division 3 East, Mr. Keegan said he’s preparing the team for more competitive matches by having them challenge each other. He’s also reached out to coaches in higher divisions, hoping to give his team some practice sets against players in more competitive divisions.

Left in the schedule are matches against Shea, Tiverton and Woonsocket before a run at the state’s.

On Tuesday, the Huskies earned their eleventh win by defeating North Smithfield 5-2. Match results are as follows: 1st Singles – Lauren Fletcher, Mt. Hope, defeated Hailey Raskob, North Smithfield 6-1, 6-1; 2nd Singles – Simone Verria, Mt. Hope, defeated Jessica Blakemore, North Smithfield 6-1, 6-2; 3rd Singles – Haley Ferreira, Mt.
