Seniors received roses and many team members of the Mt. Hope girls swim team topped their best scores at last Sunday’s Bay View Invitational meet at the new Brown University Pool. Seniors Angelica Alvarado, Lauren Deschenes and Captain Jaimee Walsh received roses during a ceremony before the start of the meet and then went on to post impressive time improvements.
Hitting a personal best in mid-season is a great sign for the remainder of the season and the championships, said swim coach Jonathan Dell.
Also besting their top scores were Victoria Bendza in the 200 yard freestyle, Alex Brassard in the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke, Elaina DeRiso in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle, Alicia Dugan in the 50 yard freestyle, Claire Galligan in the 100 yard backstroke, Tori Nunez in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke, Olivia Phillips in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard breaststroke, and Captain Lucy Spence in the 100 yard backstroke.
