After playing eight of their 13 scheduled regular season games, the Mt. Hope girls’ lacrosse team has an even 4-4 record going into their game on Thursday, May 2 when they play Portsmouth High School at Colt State Park. Portsmouth’s record currently stands at 5-1.

Facing Classical (3-4-0) on Thursday, April 25, the Huskies played a good game defensively, holding Classical to only five goals, but Mt. Hope’s four goals weren’t enough to even the score.

“Offensively the Huskies couldn’t get it going in the attack,” said Mt. Hope coach Kerri Ferreira.

Kellsie Mitchell, Kaelyn Silveira, Lexi Winnes, Taylor Sousa and Sarah Aubin contributed defensively against Classical, with goalkeeper, Allie Threadgill, making nine saves on the day.

In game eight versus Warwick Vets (1-6-0) on Saturday, April 27, the Mt. Hope girls won 9-6 with three of those points scored by Makenzie Marshall who lead the Huskies’ offense. Helping to seal the win, Alyssa Raposo added two goals and an assist, while Shaelyn Raposo added two more goals of her own. Alex Hill and Olivia Almeida had one goal each with Morgan Chaves, Angie Mascena and Kellsie Mitchell adding one assist each.LAX2

The Huskies host Porstmouth High School (5-1-0) on Thursday May 2 at Colt Park. The game begins at 4 p.m.
