KMS wrestling team proves strength at States

Kickemuit Middle School wrestlers wrapped up their season with a 4-4 regular season record and made a strong showing at the Rhode Island State Championship meet held on Saturday, Jan. 26.

Middle school wrestling teams from across the state competed against one another at Cumberland High School, where KMS came in seventh among the schools.

In individual results, Devon Lancaster, wrestling at the 126 pound division, took first place in the state in his weight class.

During the two day elimination event Neil Thibaudeau took second place in the state in his 133 pound division, with Cam Nappi, Tori Zasowski and Bailey Taft securing fourth place finishes in their respective weights.

In the junior varsity matches, Santino Depasquale earned a first place finish and title of JV state champion in his 126 pound class, and Brooke McGreevy claiming a second place title in her 119 pound division.
