EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School football team won for the second weekend in a row and recorded its first Division I victory of the fall as the Townies defeated visiting Tolman, 35-20, Friday night, Oct. 25, at Pierce Memorial Stadium.

Senior fullback Austin Baptista scored four of the five East Providence touchdowns while racking up a career-best 230 yards rushing. Trystan Casey accounted for the Townies’ other touchdown. Corey Resendes converted on all five of his point-after kicks. The locals amassed almost 500 yards of total offense as a team.

East Providence improved to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in Division I with the win, which came six days following the locals’ non-league victory over Westerly. The Townies return to action Friday, Nov. 1, at home against South Kingstown at 7 p.m.
