Barrington native Greg Newton made a jumper with four seconds remaining to lift Hamilton College to a 62-60 victory over Elmira College in a non-conference game at Elmira’s Speidel Gymnasium on Nov. 20.

The junior and Phillips Exeter Academy graduate scored 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.

The performance came on the heels of another strong showing for Newton last Saturday. While the Continentals lost to Manhattanville College 73-64, Newton scored 19 and went nine-for-11 at the free throw line.

Hamilton shot 31 percent from the floor in the second half and 39.3 percent (22-56) for the game. The Continentals were just 1 of 15 from beyond the arc. Hamilton’s defense was solid as the Continentals blocked seven shots. The teams combined to shoot 72 free throws.
