Barrington High School girls’ cross country to compete in Ocean State Cross Country Invitational

Thirty-one teams from around Rhode Island will compete in the annual Ocean State Cross Country Invitiational at Goddard Park this Saturday, including a Barrington High School squad.

More than 3,000 runners from around the Northeast region are expected for the 14-race event. The schedule begins at 9 a.m.

The premiere events are the two Championship Division runs, which begin at noon. (See schedule below).

Rhode Island will be represented by 15 girls’ teams and 16 boys’ squads. They are:

GIRLS – Barrington, Chariho, Coventry, Cranston West, East Greenwich, Hope, Lincoln, Middletown, North Kingstown, North Smithfield, Bay View, Toll Gate, West Warwick, Westerly, Wheeler School.

BOYS – Cranston West, Coventry, East Greenwich, Hope, Moses Brown, Mt. Hope, North Providence, North Smithfield, North Kingstown, Scituate, St. Raphael, Toll Gate, West Warwick, Westerly, Providence Country Day, Rocky Hill.

The race time schedule:

9:00 – Boys’ Freshman I.

9:25 -  Girls’ Freshman I.

9:50 – Boys’ JV I.

10:20 – Girls’ JV I.

10:55 – Boys’ Varsity I.

11:20 – Girls’ Varsity I.

12 noon – Boys’ Championship.

12:30 – Girls’ Championship.

1:10 – Boys’ Varsity II.

1:35 – Girls’ Varsity II.

2:05 – Boys’ JV II.

2:35 – Girls’ JV II.

3:10 – Boys’ Freshman II.

3:35 – Girls’ Freshman II.

Course Notes: Also on Saturday, the “Great American Cross Country Festival’’ will be held at WakeMed soccer Park in Cary, N.C.  Hendricken, La Salle and Chariho’s Bryce Kelley are entered in the boys’ “Race of Champions’’. Barrington and La Salle are the Rhode Island teams entered in the girls’ Championship race.
